Yuiran

Born in Tokyo. Started to practice Erhu under the influence of her Shanghai-born father, Li Tackming. Given lessons by the Master Ang and studied the fundamentals of Erhu at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
Returned to Japan. Appeared in “NHK Chinese Lesson.” Has performed Erhu to help spread Chinese Min-yo through Japan-China friendship activities and Asian music festivals.
A 31st-generation graduate from the NHK Hogaku Players Training Association. Participated in the recording of “NHK Furusato Min-yo Hiroba,” TV commercials, video game background music and popular songs. Performed in her own live concert and appeared in a joint tour with Tsugaru-Shamisen performers. Has been studying Japanese Min-yo in order to discover the appeal of folk music common in many Asian countries.

Satsuki

Satsuki

Born in Tokyo to MITSUGU OYAMA, the Iemoto (Grand Master) of Tsugaru-Shamisen Oyama-ryu and YUIRAN. Studied music in brass band clubs at junior high and high schools. Influenced by her mother, she began to practice Erhu and also studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Given lessons by the Master Nie and studied the fundamentals of Erhu. Studied the Chinese language at the Beijing Language and Culture University. Given lessons by Master Wang during her second stay in Beijing. Has participated in Japan-China friendship activities and helped popularize Erhu.
Participated in live concerts and recording of her brother’s band “Soothe” as a supporting member. Performed Erhu on Enka singer tours and recorded TV commercial and anime-theme songs as well. Satsuki has been pursuing the potentials and dissemination of Chinese Erhu in Japan.
